Aim

The program aims to fill the gap in the Turkish construction sector for researchers in the interdisciplinary field of Construction Management and Law, to provide advanced expertise in this field, to train pioneering researchers and academics in the field of construction law with the potential of academic contributions to literature and international knowledge transfer and with the ultimate purpose of developing scientific activities in construction law in Turkey.

Registration and Admission Requirements

(1) Applicants to master's programs with thesis must have a bachelor's degree. (2) A minimum of 65 points in the score type of the program the student applied for, or an equivalent score from an international exam accepted by the Interuniversity Board. (3) In the admission of students to master's programs with thesis, an admission grade is calculated by considering 50% of the ALES score, 20% of the undergraduate graduation grade point average and 30% of the scientific evaluation and/or interview results to be made in writing. (4) In the admission of graduate students to the departments of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, the undergraduate graduation grade point average and the results of the written scientific evaluation exam and/or interview are evaluated.50% of the undergraduate graduation grade point average and 50% of the written exam and/or interview results are taken into account for the calculation of the admission grade. Students holding an undegraduate degree from architecture, interior architecture, engineering and law branches will be accepted to graduate programs.

Graduation Requirements

The master's program with thesis consists of at least eight courses, a seminar course and thesis, with a total of not less than 21 credits. The seminar course and thesis work are non-credit and are evaluated on pass/fail basis. The master's program with thesis consists of a total of at least 120 ECTS credits, including at least eight courses, excluding the seminar course, provided that it is not less than 60 ECTS credits in one academic term. The student has to register for the thesis period of each semester, starting from the semester following the appointment of the advisor at the latest.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students transferring from other programmes are admitted according to the relevant clauses of Istanbul Medipol University Graduate Studies Education Regulations.

Employment opportunities for students who have succesfully completed the Master's Degree Program (Thesis) in Construction Management and Law include academic and research careers in addition to contract administration positions, construction management positions, and positions in construction law in the construction sector and in the field of law.

Success in a course is defined by the course grade. The grade of the course is based on the midterm exam, midterm exam substitutes, such as homework, group studies and similar work, and the final exam.
