TÜBİTAK support for 104 student projects across diverse disciplines

A total of 104 projects developed by students at Istanbul Medipol University will receive support through the 2209-A and 2209-B programs run by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) for university students. According to the results of the 2025 applications, 98 projects were accepted under the 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program, while six were selected for the 2209-B University Students Research Projects Support Program for Industry.

STUDENT RESEARCH SPANS 14 ACADEMIC UNITS
The distribution of projects supported under the 2209-A program reflects the broad disciplinary scope of student research across the University. In addition to health sciences, medicine, and pharmacy, projects in engineering and natural sciences, business and management sciences, humanities and social sciences, education, communication, law, fine arts, design, and architecture qualified for support.

Of the 98 projects accepted under the program, 27 are from the School of Health Sciences, 19 from the College of Health Sciences, 17 from the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences, eight from the School of Business and Management Sciences, seven from the School of Medicine, and five from the School of Pharmacy. The International School of Medicine and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences each have three supported projects; the School of Education, IMU Vocational School, and the School of Communication each have two; while the School of Dentistry, the School of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, and the School of Law each have one project receiving support.

SIX PROJECTS WILL CONNECT ACADEMIC KNOWLEDGE WITH INDUSTRY
TÜBİTAK’s 2209-B program focuses on connecting student research with industry needs and real-world challenges. Of the six projects from Istanbul Medipol University accepted under the program, four were developed at the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences and two at the School of Pharmacy.

Working under academic supervision, students will conduct research addressing problems encountered by industry, gaining experience in translating scientific knowledge into practical applications.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE DURING UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION
TÜBİTAK’s 2209 programs are designed to enable university students to gain experience in different stages of scientific research while still pursuing their undergraduate education. Throughout the process, students take an active role in the fundamental stages of research, from defining a research problem and developing an appropriate methodology to generating and analyzing data and evaluating the results.

The 104 projects supported at Istanbul Medipol University will enable students from a wide range of disciplines to integrate research into their undergraduate education while putting their scientific thinking and project development skills into practice.
