Strategic educational partnership between Medipol and Coursera

Istanbul Medipol University has established a strategic partnership with Coursera, one of the world's leading online learning platforms, to strengthen access to international educational content for its students, academics and healthcare professionals. 

Under the agreement, members of the university will gain access to educational content and internationally recognized certificate programs developed by some of the world's most prestigious universities and leading technology companies.

Prof. Bahadır Kürşat Güntürk, President of Istanbul Medipol University, stated that the agreement represents an important step in supporting the university's vision for education, research, and internationalization.

Emphasizing that advances in fields such as artificial intelligence, genomics, big data, and personalized medicine are driving profound transformations across a wide range of sectors, from healthcare systems to engineering, Güntürk noted that the university aims to educate its students not merely as observers of this transformation, but as individuals who will actively shape it.

Güntürk stated: "Our goal is to educate our students not only as highly competent professionals in their respective fields, but also as scientists who are inquisitive, research-oriented, capable of interdisciplinary thinking, and proficient in the effective use of emerging technologies. Through our partnership with Coursera, our students, academics, and physicians will have the opportunity to further enrich their existing academic education by benefiting from educational content developed by the world's leading universities and technology companies."

Noting that the partnership will strengthen the culture of lifelong learning, Güntürk stated that access to international educational content will enhance the university's research capacity, support scientific productivity, and contribute to its global academic collaborations.

Güntürk said: "At a time when the barriers to accessing knowledge have virtually disappeared, the greatest advantage lies in being able to reach the right knowledge as quickly as possible and transform it into new knowledge. Our objective is to educate graduates who not only keep pace with knowledge but also generate knowledge, develop technology, and compete successfully on a global scale."

Prof. Abdülkadir Ömer, Dean of the International School of Medicine at Istanbul Medipol University, also stated that the partnership with Coursera will provide a complementary and enriching contribution to the university's strong medical education.

Drawing attention to the rapid pace of knowledge generation and technological advancement in healthcare, Ömer emphasized the importance of physicians continually developing themselves not only before graduation but throughout their professional careers.
