Healthcare Systems Engineering

Istanbul Medipol University, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences and the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences were established with the aim of conducting applied research.

One of the important goals of our faculty and graduate school is to serve as a bridge between our university and healthcare institutions/organizations as well as the healthcare industry within the framework of engineering applications in the field of health. Healthcare Systems Engineering is an educational program aimed at designing and directing healthcare organizations—which possess a dynamically and complexly structured nature both technically and managerially—towards targeted objectives as a whole; by:

i. Combining knowledge, techniques, and skills in the fields of Industrial/Systems Engineering and Health Sciences, taking environmental, quality, and ethical values into consideration,
ii. Teaching the necessary approaches and methods for the design, production, management, and continuous improvement of systems originating from people, machinery, money, time, information, technology, and energy.

This program aims to educate domestic and international students coming from various engineering, science, social science, and health science disciplines as practitioners and managers equipped with modern and competitive knowledge, scientific approaches, and techniques, who will play a role in the design and management of globalizing healthcare systems and organizations.

In this program, our graduate students—who will have the opportunity to receive education from and conduct research alongside faculty members with international achievements in their fields—are aimed to be trained with the qualifications to be employed within private and public institutions/organizations operating in the healthcare sector, and for some to become individuals capable of founding their own businesses and transforming their research into innovation using the research experience gained during their education.
