In the “Sustainable Future: Inspirational Institutions” event organized by the Istanbul Medipol University Sustainable Development Club, innovative solutions developed against the climate crisis and the contribution of technology to sustainability were discussed. The guest of the event held in the South Campus Conference Hall was Ecording Corporate Partnership Specialist Zeynep Buket Akdeniz. Akdeniz emphasized that social enterprises, like commercial enterprises, are for profit, but they focus entirely on transforming that profit into social benefit. Stating that Ecording also acts with this mission, Akdeniz said: “We are a social enterprise that produces technology-based solutions against the climate crisis. Our goal is to provide lasting solutions to environmental problems with the revenue we generate.” Providing information about EcoDrone, one of Ecording's most prominent projects, Akdeniz said that this system revitalizes the forest ecosystem by dropping seed balls in areas that are not suitable for traditional sapling planting. Akdeniz said: “A drone can scan an area the size of 1.5 football fields in just 10 minutes and drop 6,000 seed balls into the ground. With this method, we can both reforest areas damaged by fire and create lasting solutions to the climate crisis.”

AKDENİZ: WE PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT TO WOMEN
Stating that Ecording not only protects nature, but also supports women’s employment, Akdeniz said: “We work with disadvantaged women who are most affected by the climate crisis. We are contributing to their economic independence. Noting that the seed balls are produced by women’s labor, Akdeniz concluded her words as follows: “Women cover the seeds of trees, such as black pine and red pine, with clay and forest soil and turn them into seed balls. In this way, both nature is contributed to and a new job opportunity is offered to women. While we are fighting the climate crisis, we are also strengthening gender equality.”
