Renewable energy and green transformation discussed at Medipol
In the workshop titled “Employment and Sustainability in the Renewable Energy Sector” organized in cooperation with Istanbul Medipol University Sustainable Development Application and Research Center (SURKAM) and the Vocational Qualifications Authority of Türkiye (VQA), the effects of renewable energy on sectoral transformation and green employment were discussed.

The workshop “Employment and Sustainability in the Renewable Energy Sector” was organized in cooperation with Istanbul Medipol University University Sustainable Development Application and Research Center (SURKAM) and the Vocational Qualifications Authority of Türkiye (VQA) to discuss the effects of renewable energy on green transformation. The event, which was held at Istanbul Medipol University South Campus Conference Hall, was attended by Istanbul Medipol University President Prof. Ömer Ceran, Turkish Energy, Nuclear and Mineral Research Agency (TENMAK) Energy and Technology Policy Coordination Deputy Director Dr. Ümit Çalıkoğlu, and Vocational Qualifications Authority of Türkiye (VQA) President Prof. Mustafa Necmi İlhan. The opening speech of the event was delivered by Prof. Rana Atabay Kuşçu, Director of Istanbul Medipol University SURKAM. Prof. Kuşçu stated that they are conducting studies in fundamental areas, such as energy, health, education, trade, and economy in order to support sustainable development goals and emphasized that the renewable energy sector has a critical importance in terms of these goals. She also highlighted the sector’s potential to create skilled jobs and environmental sustainability. Prof. Kuşçu said: “As of 2023, employment figures in the renewable energy sector have shown significant growth and are expected to reach 10 percent of total employment in the future. However, in order to achieve this goal, it is essential to develop inclusive, innovative, and sustainable solutions.”
