Under the leadership of Istanbul Medipol University Vocational School of Health Services (VSHS) Director Prof. İlknur Keskin, academics, and students have undertaken an important project with a sense of social responsibility. A library was established in Sıtkı Türkoğlu Primary School in Kızıltepe district of Mardin within the scope of the “Culture Project” by VSHS. The opening of the library, which initially contained two thousand books, was held with the participation of academics, students, and school officials. Speaking at the opening, VSHS Lecturer Selda Selimoğlu emphasized the importance of the project and said: “Education is the most fundamental element in the development of individuals and societies. With this project, we aim to contribute to the academic and personal development of our children by facilitating their access to information. Books will help them discover new worlds and develop their imagination.” As part of the project, students not only supported the establishment of the library, but also came together with children to help them gain the habit of reading. The learning process was made more enjoyable thanks to interactive readings, storytelling, and educational workshops held with children throughout the events.
