Uğurlu: Creating compelling content will be a priority in the age of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence tools are evolving beyond content generation into systems capable of carrying out tasks. Meeting with students at an event organized by Istanbul Medipol University School of Communication, Ahmet Serhat Uğurlu emphasized the importance of originality, continuous learning, and human oversight in this transformation.
The orientation conference titled “Discover Your Superpowers in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” organized by Istanbul Medipol University School of Communication, was held in Lecture Hall 404 on the South Campus. The event featured Ahmet Serhat Uğurlu, IT Director at CCR Group, as a speaker and covered the fundamental principles of artificial intelligence, the transition from large language models (LLMs) to agent-based systems, the differences between CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs, energy consumption, and the “perfect mediocrity trap.” Live demonstrations were also presented during the program, which brought together academics and students.
UĞURLU: AI IS MOVING TOWARD THE CONCEPT OF "SUPERINTELLIGENCE"
Opening his presentation with an assessment of the development of artificial intelligence, Ahmet Serhat Uğurlu said that AI has increasingly begun to be discussed alongside the concepts of AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) and “Superintelligence.” Uğurlu said, “In the United States, they are no longer talking about AI but AGI, Artificial General Intelligence. In fact, even the terminology around artificial intelligence is changing; they are now calling it ‘Superintelligence."
Explaining that artificial intelligence is based on statistical learning, Uğurlu noted that ChatGPT is not artificial intelligence itself but an interface that enables users to interact with and benefit from the technology. He added that the technology underlying ChatGPT is a large language model (LLM).
"AGENTIC AI NO LONGER JUST PROVIDES ANSWERS; IT GETS THINGS DONE"
Devoting a significant part of his presentation to Agentic AI, Uğurlu explained that these systems no longer simply generate responses but can operate like a team of agents working together. Uğurlu said, “You say, ‘I want to go to the cinema tomorrow evening. Find somewhere close to my home and buy me a ticket.’ Ten minutes later, you receive the ticket by SMS. In the background, agents are communicating with one another, determining your location, accessing the cinema’s website, and making the reservation.”
Uğurlu also conducted a live demonstration using ChatGPT 6 Astra, showing how the system could open a browser, compare movie options, and guide the user through to the purchase screen.
THE "PERFECT MEDIOCRITY" TRAP
Uğurlu described the risk of AI-generated content becoming “perfect but ordinary” as the “perfect mediocrity trap.” He warned, “If you do not give artificial intelligence specific color codes or a distinctive design language, it will statistically select the colors most likely to appeal to the greatest number of people. In the end, everything starts to look the same as what everyone else is producing. That diminishes its value.”
Addressing security issues such as guardrails and prompt injection, Uğurlu also stressed that artificial intelligence should never be trusted completely. He stated that the technology must always be supported by human oversight and subject-matter expertise.
"JOBS WILL DISAPPEAR, BUT NEW FIELDS WILL EMERGE"
Responding directly to concerns about unemployment caused by artificial intelligence, Uğurlu said, “It will take all of your jobs, one hundred percent. But that does not mean anything by itself. The business world will evolve, you will continue learning, and new fields of work will emerge.”
Noting that creating products is becoming easier, Uğurlu said that the real value will increasingly lie in marketing, understanding human psychology, and creating compelling content. He concluded his presentation with live demonstrations in which he developed a Snake game and created Instagram posts for the “Take Back Your Attention” campaign.
