Medipol distinguished itself on the ‘Innovation Map of Universities’

According to the 2025 “Innovation Map of Universities” report of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT), Istanbul Medipol University became the third university in Türkiye with the highest number of patent and utility model applications, totaling 607 between 2010 and 2024. Medipol also ranked third in Türkiye in the list of “Universities with the Most Registration Certificates.”

DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS COME TO THE FORE 
TÜRKPATENT’s Patent and Utility Model Performance Report also revealed the number of applications submitted by universities, categorized by technology field. The majority of Istanbul Medipol University’s 607 applications were made in the field of “digital communication”. Additionally, applications in the fields of “medical technology” and “medicines” stood out.

PRODUCTIVITY ABOVE TÜRKİYE’S AVERAGE 
According to the report, Istanbul Medipol University also stands out in terms of academic productivity. According to data from 2024, there is one patent application for every 16 university faculty members. This rate indicates a patent production capacity above the Turkish average.

We have established an ecosystem that blends academic knowledge production with technology and an entrepreneurial culture. Through our Technology Transfer Office (TTO), we evaluate not only the scientific but also the economic and social value of each idea. We are determined to make this vision, which centers on science, technology and social benefit, sustainable. Our goal is to make meaningful contributions not only to today’s world but also to tomorrow’s world by approaching knowledge with courage.

PROFESSIONAL PROCESS MANAGEMENT 
The patent application processes at the university are carried out professionally by Istanbul Medipol University Technology Transfer Office (TTO). TTO systematically evaluates the commercialization potential of each application and supports the university’s goal of transforming its knowledge into economic value. Since 2014, TTO has been serving as a bridge, providing a wide range of services, from a strong entrepreneurial culture to university-industry collaborations, and bringing academic knowledge and experience together with society. With more than 500 projects implemented to date, TTO stands out, having transformed academic knowledge into concrete success with over 500 patents and design registration certificates obtained from these projects. TTO, which has established strong ties with the industry and pioneered more than 100 collaboration projects, prepares the ground for innovative ideas to come to life with the support it offers to entrepreneurs. Not limited to project production, TTO reaches more than 4,000 people with the trainings it organizes and creates a wide area of influence, making a difference with the contributions it provides to the entrepreneurial ecosystem and the industrial world.
