The Sustainability Summit, organized under the leadership of Istanbul Medipol University Sustainable Development Application and Research Center (SURKAM), brought together academics, sector representatives, and students. The sustainability visions of finance, industry, energy, and food sectors were discussed at the event.

The Sustainability Summit was organized by Istanbul Medipol University’s Sustainable Development Application and Research Center (SURKAM). The event, which took place in the South Campus Conference Hall, was attended by Istanbul Medipol University Vice-President Prof. Recep Öztürk, Turkey OECD 2021-2024 Permanent Representative and Istanbul Medipol University Faculty of Business and Management Sciences Faculty Member Prof. Kerem Alkin, the Public Oversight, Accounting, and Auditing Standards Authority President Dr. Hasan Özçelik, Istanbul Medipol University SURKAM Director Prof. Rana Atabay Kuşçu, academics, and many students. In the panel organized as part of the event, Türk EximBank Sustainability Manager Caner Gençeli, TKYB Executive Vice President, Sustainability and Impact Leader Seçil Yıldız, Tat Gıda Head of Sustainability, Strategy, and Communications Merve Cansın Kaplan, Ford Otosan Sustainability Leader Dicle Kocaoğlu, and Çalık Renewables Sustainability Quality, Environment, and OHS Coordinator Sevgi Ulugöl came together with the students and shared their experiences. The panel discussed sustainability visions and practices of sectors such as finance, industry, energy and food.
PROF. KUŞÇU: A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE IS POSSIBLE WITH COLLECTIVE ACTION
The opening speech of the event was delivered by SURKAM Director Prof. Rana Atabay Kuşçu, who emphasized that sustainability is not only an environmental message, but also a holistic approach that touches every aspect of life, from social equality to quality education, from inclusive economic growth to strong institutions. Prof. Kuşçu stated that the sustainable development goals can only be achieved with strong cooperation, scientific knowledge, political support, and collective action, and emphasized that SURKAM was established not only as an event, but also as a platform for common sense and dialogue.
