Medipol among the best in THE Asia 2026
Istanbul Medipol University has continued its upward trajectory, ranking in the 201–250 band in the Times Higher Education 2026 Asia University Rankings.

According to the results of the '2026 Asia University Rankings' announced by Times Higher Education (THE), Istanbul Medipol University was placed in the 201–250 band. The results demonstrate the university’s steady progress in research capacity, academic productivity, and international visibility.
In the ranking, which evaluated a total of 929 higher education institutions from 36 countries and regions across Asia, universities were assessed on the basis of 18 distinct indicators grouped under the categories of research quality, teaching environment, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.
In recent years, Medipol has made rapid progress toward becoming a research university through its scientific publication performance, high-quality research outputs, international collaborations, and student-centered educational approach. Its rise in the THE Asia rankings has further strengthened its position within the global higher education landscape.
PRESIDENT GÜNTÜRK: A CONCRETE RESULT OF OUR STRATEGIC EFFORTS
President Prof. Bahadır Kürşat Güntürk, in his evaluation of the achievement in the THE 2026 Asia University Rankings, stated that Istanbul Medipol University has demonstrated consistent development in recent years in the areas of research, internationalization, and educational quality.
President Güntürk remarked: “Our consistent rise in international rankings constitutes a tangible outcome of our strategic initiatives and academic productivity. Following our achievements in global rankings and subject-specific performances, this result in the Asia rankings clearly reflects Medipol’s steady ascent in global higher education. Our objective is to continue our path with greater strength as a research university that produces knowledge, competes on an international scale, and contributes value to society.”
MEDIPOL RANKED IN THE 801–1,000 BAND IN THE THE WORLD RANKINGS
As previously noted, Istanbul Medipol University was ranked within the 801–1,000 band in the overall standings of the THE 2026 World University Rankings, announced in October 2025. In the list prepared by the London-based ranking organization based on the data of 2,191 universities that meet a certain academic standard, Medipol improved from the 1,501+ band in the previous year, thereby increasing its global academic visibility. In this ranking, the university was positioned 9th among the 109 universities from Türkiye included in the list.

MEDIPOL AMONG THE WORLD’S BEST UNIVERSITIES IN THREE FIELDS
In the 2026 Subject Rankings announced by THE in January 2026, Istanbul Medipol University demonstrated its research-oriented academic strength on an international scale through its performance in the fields of “Business and Economics,” “Engineering,” and “Clinical and Health.” According to the announced results, Istanbul Medipol University was placed in the 301–400 band worldwide in “Business and Economics,” ranking 5th in Türkiye and 3rd among foundation universities. The university also achieved a notable success in the “Research Quality” category, a subcategory of “Business and Economics.” In this category, Medipol ranked 65th globally, placing 1st among all public and foundation universities in Türkiye.

INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS IN ENGINEERING
In the field of “Engineering,” Istanbul Medipol University was positioned within the 501–600 band worldwide, ranking 8th in Türkiye and 4th among foundation universities. In the previous year, Medipol had been in the 801–1,000 band in this field. The university also achieved a significant accomplishment in the “International Outlook” category, a subcategory of “Engineering.” In this category, Medipol ranked 209th globally, placing 1st among all public and foundation universities in Türkiye.
THE MEDIPOL DIFFERENCE IN MEDICINE AND HEALTHCARE
In the field of “Clinical and Health,” Istanbul Medipol University was placed within the 601–800 band worldwide, ranking 3rd in Türkiye. In the previous year, the university had been in the 1,001+ band in this field. The university also distinguished itself in the “International Outlook” category, a subcategory of “Clinical and Health.” In this category, Medipol ranked 339th globally, surpassing all public and foundation universities in Türkiye to secure 1st place.
