Future midwives have put on their coats

A “White Coat Ceremony” was organized for first-year students of the Department of Midwifery at Istanbul Medipol University. Held at the South Campus Conference Hall, the opening speech of the ceremony was given by Dr. Asiye Kocatürk, the Head of the Department of Midwifery of the School of Health Sciences at Istanbul Medipol University. Inspiring the students by emphasizing the sacredness and responsibility of the midwifery profession, Dr. Kocatürk said: “Midwifery is not just a profession, it is a dedication. The pink color you wear represents patience and compassion, and the white color represents cleanliness and trust. This journey will not be easy, but you will never walk alone. Your colleagues will always be with you; however, learning is in your hands. Trust yourself, and be brave.” Dr. Kocatürk, who also mentioned the difficulties that students will face while gaining experience in hospitals, continued as follows: “This profession requires dedication, knowledge, and courage. You will work independently, make decisions, and touch lives. You will be with women and children. Midwifery means being with women from birth to death. However, this profession is carried out not only with knowledge but also with dedication. It cannot be done without compassion, mercy, and dedication. As Istanbul Medipol University, we will put forward all our experiences to train you in the best way possible.”
