In the meeting organized by Istanbul Medipol University’s Research Center for Healthcare Systems and Policies (SASPAM) at the South Campus, changes in disease-specific mortality rates in Türkiye in recent years were discussed. Prof. Mehmet Koçak, a Faculty Member from the International School of Medicine at Istanbul Medipol University and a Member of the Research Institute for Health Sciences and Technologies (SABITA), gave a presentation evaluating cancer-related mortality rates in Türkiye, especially between 2010 and 2022.

PROF. KOÇAK: CANCER DEATHS IN TÜRKİYE VARY DEPENDING ON GENDER, AGE, AND REGION
Drawing attention to the fact that cancer death rates in Türkiye vary significantly according to disease type, age group, gender, and geographical region, Prof. Koçak said: “For instance, while breast cancer-related death rates are significant among women, lung cancer has the highest rate among men. This data is important for increasing social awareness and developing screening programs.”
