Aim

The aim of the program is to educate researchers and specialists who possess advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of English Language Teaching. The program also aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to critically evaluate research in the field and to conduct original academic research.

Registration and Admission Requirements

- Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree, - Candidates must obtain a score of 65 or higher in the ALES "Equal Weight" (Eşit Ağırlık) or "Verbal" (Sözel) score type, - Candidates must obtain a score of at least 85 on the YDS or YÖKDİL exams, or submit a result document showing a score equivalent to 85 from foreign language exams recognized as equivalent by YÖK (Council of Higher Education). - The final score is calculated by summing 50% of the ALES score, 20% of the undergraduate GPA, and 30% of the interview score. Applications for the announced graduate programs must be submitted in accordance with the prescribed procedures and within the timeframes specified in the announcement.

Graduation Requirements

A thesis-based master's program consists of at least seven courses, totaling no fewer than 21 credits, one seminar course, and a thesis. The seminar course and thesis work are non-credit-bearing and are evaluated on a pass/fail basis. The thesis-based master's program consists of a total of at least 120 ECTS credits, with no fewer than 60 ECTS credits per academic year. Students who successfully complete all courses prescribed in the program, including the seminar course, as well as the master's thesis, are entitled to receive their degree.

Learning Experiences

Learning situations aim to develop students' creative, critical, reflective thinking skills and higher level thinking skills such as logical and mathematical thinking skills. In addition, it aims to develop students' meta-cognitive skills. Learning situations include learning strategies, methods and techniques as well as the tools used and assessment and evaluation methods. Faculty-external stakeholder (industrial organizations, schools and others) cooperation is established. Students directly observe professional skills in the real environment. Observation results are analyzed in the classroom environment.

Traditional Written Exam

Classical written exams to assess creative, critical and reflective thinking. Multiple- choice, short-answer (fill-in-the-blank, matching, true-false and other) exams to assess cognitive skills such as knowledge, comprehension, application and analysis.

Performance Task

It is used when it is aimed to evaluate students holistically (cognitive, affective and psychomotor). It is used to measure and evaluate the learning process and learning products. Performance assignments involve a workload of at least two weeks.

Peer Assessment Technique

Students are aimed to evaluate the learning products of their peers from a student perspective. Peer assessment results are analyzed by the instructor.
