An Ambulance and Emergency Care Technician (AECT)—frequently referred to as a Paramedic—is a paramedical professional qualified to provide professional basic and advanced life support to patients and the injured in pre-hospital emergency settings.

These professionals perform life-saving and disability-preventing medical interventions until definitive treatment is administered. They are trained to recognize all forms of systemic trauma, as well as to plan and execute appropriate emergency protocols. Furthermore, they ensure the clinical stability and safe gold-standard transport of stabilized patients to healthcare facilities via ambulance.
