Research Areas
Pharmacology, one of the fundamental disciplines of the pharmacy curriculum, is the branch of science that studies drugs, their mechanisms of action, and their uses. It is a multidisciplinary field closely related to areas such as Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and Clinical Pharmacy. The Department of Pharmacology offers Pharmacology courses to pharmacy students over three semesters.
The research areas of the Department of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Istanbul Medipol University include:
- To investigate pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic parameters and their effects on drug action and the physiological systems of the body.
- To teach the definition and sources of drugs, the importance of their route of administration, method of application, and dosage. Additionally, to classify drugs pharmacologically and examine their mechanisms of action.
