Department of Pharmaceutical Toxicology
Pharmaceutical Toxicology is the branch of science that studies the toxic effects of chemical substances on living organisms and defines their safety limits. It is a discipline within pharmacy that investigates the cellular, biochemical, and molecular mechanisms underlying the toxic effects of all chemical substances, including drugs. In order to obtain toxicity data on pharmaceuticals and various chemicals and to identify their harmful effects on both humans and the environment, research is conducted in the following areas:
Research Areas;
- Toxicity studies in animal models
- Genotoxicity and cytogenetic methods
- Genetic polymorphisms
- Xenobiotic metabolism
- Drug safety
- Forensic toxicology
- Environmental and clinical biomarkers
- Toxicology of natural products
- Occupational toxicology
- Clinical toxicology
- Analytical toxicology
- Risk assessment
