Biostatistics Master of Science Program at Istanbul Medipol University

The main purpose of the Biostatistics Master of Science program is to train biostatistics experts who will ensure that the designs, analyses, and interpretation of scientific studies especailly in medical sciences are carried out in an accurate manner with state-of-the art tools and techniques.

The multifaceted and in-depth data flow, which started with digitalization becoming more pronounced in every stage and front of our lives, has provided us with opportunities that we did not have before in establishing data-based decision-support systems and policies with timely and accurate analysis of such data. The effective use of such an opportunity requires professional training both on theory and real-world practice for the accurate and timely analysis of the existing data growing both in depth and breadth day by day. In order to bridge this gap professionally to some extent in a mega-city like Istanbul that is considered to be one of the industrial and academic research-development and scientific research centers in Turkiye , we, as faculty members of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics Department at Istanbul Medipol University International School of Medicine and School of Medicine, in a mega city like Istanbul, opened this Master of Science program in Biostatistics.

Our students who are accepted to the Master of Science Program in Biostatistics will gain theoretical and practical experience in real data problems and analysis methods to tackle these problems during their education and we will guide them in the transition to business life after graduation by gaining experience of statistical consultancy in the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Analysis Unit within our university.

Our students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to plan and conduct scientific studies, to correctly interpret the data structures needed and obtained from research, to determine appropriate analysis methods, and to interpret and present analysis results. Our students who complete this program will not only meet Turkiye's need for Biostatistics with the theoretical, technical and practical training they have received, but they will also benefit from the fact that the program is designed as an English-based program to prepare our graduates to develop self-confidence to consider Professional job opportunities in other parts of the world outside of Turkiye to represent us abroad.

Nursing is a profession within the health care sector focused on the care of individuals, families, and communities so they may attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life.

Today nursing becomes not only a health care but it gains a true scientific position by using information coming from different medical branches.

Professional nursing education is directly linked to the under- and post-graduate programmes. Since the 1960s, the undergraduate and graduate nursing education has increased dramatically. This increase led to an increase in natural scientific research related to nursing.

Postgraduate Training Program of nursing have been opened at our graduate school in order to give ethical, socio-cultural and personal development to students by supporting their rational, dynamic, and creative ideas in their professional field.

Graduates of the program serve as assistant child development specialists. They are qualified to provide education that fosters children's physical, psycho-motor, cognitive, language, social, and emotional development by instilling age-appropriate knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Furthermore, they perform essential services for children with special needs or those at risk by implementing developmental support measures tailored to the child, family, and educators.

A Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) is a specialized professional responsible for the maintenance, repair, and calibration of all medical devices utilized within healthcare institutions and organizations.

Biomedical equipment technicians may be stationed directly within clinical settings—such as hospitals, private practices, and medical centers—to perform immediate interventions, or they may operate within third-party technical service providers contracted for long-term and periodic system maintenance. Having received comprehensive training on a wide spectrum of technology, ranging from basic diagnostic units to critical operating theatre and intensive care life-support systems, these technicians serve as a vital component of the healthcare sector. As indispensable assets to the medical industry, they remain a cornerstone of the health services infrastructure.

Neuroscience research gained international momentum when an initiative was declared, designating the 1990s as the Decade of the Brain: "to enhance public awareness of the benefits to be derived from brain research".

With the contribution of biotechnological development of 21st century, the research perspective covers a wide range from behavioral and cognitive to cellular and molecular explorations. Brain research became a center of attraction and academies established new programs for graduate education. 

Medipol University now offers a Masters and a Doctoral Degree in Neuroscience. With strong academic staff and pioneering technical equipment above international standards, the program offers opportunity to students from a broad background, who pursue a graduate degree in neuroscience.

Cell culture laboratory, Molecular biology laboratory, Genetics Laboratory, Proteomics Facility, Cellular Electrophysiology laboratory, Animal Behavior and Brain Research Laboratory located at Kavacık Campus and Clinical electrophysiology Laboratory located in Medipol Mega Hospitals Complex offers hands on research opportunity to students during their PhD along with an intense theoretical course curriculum.
