Bayram Eren Celep reaches the top of Europe

Competing in Tirana, Albania, at the event organized by the European University Sports Association (EUSA), Istanbul Medipol University student Bayram Eren Celep won the gold medal in the 81 kg K1 category. Held from September 12 to 17, 2026, the championship brought together university athletes from across Europe. 
 

Representing Istanbul Medipol University, Celep began his campaign in the 81 kg K1 category in the quarterfinals against Blaž Krušelj of the University of Zagreb, Croatia. After defeating his opponent, Celep advanced to the semifinals. There, the national athlete faced Daniel Paiva, representing the University of Beira Interior, Portugal. Celep secured another victory to earn his place in the final.

In the championship bout, Celep faced Andrej Djukic of the University of Algarve, Portugal. Winning the final, Celep was crowned European Universities Champion in the 81 kg K1 category.
 

EUROPEAN TITLE FOLLOWS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP VICTORY
The gold medal Bayram Eren Celep won in Tirana marked the continuation of a series of major achievements in recent years. Celep had previously become the Turkish champion in the 81 kg K1 category at the Turkish Universities Kickboxing Championship, held in Balıkesir from April 9 to 11, 2025.

The national athlete also achieved one of the most significant accomplishments of his career later that year. At the WAKO World Kickboxing Championships, held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from November 21 to 30, 2025, he became world champion in the Senior Men’s 81 kg Low Kick category. Following his Turkish and world championship titles, Celep has now added the European universities title in Tirana to his achievements on the national and international stage.
