Courtesy visit by the Consul General of the State of Qatar to Medipol
Dr. Naif Al-Abduljabbar, Consul General of the State of Qatar in Istanbul, paid a courtesy visit to Istanbul Medipol University, where he met with the university administration. During the visit, the diploma of International School of Medicine graduate Khalid Al-Ajji was presented, and the parties exchanged views on the internationalization of higher education and opportunities for academic collaboration.

Dr. Naif Al-Abduljabbar, Consul General of the State of Qatar in Istanbul, visited Istanbul Medipol University as part of a courtesy call. During the visit, Khalid Al-Ajji, a graduate of the university’s International School of Medicine and the son of Qatar’s Military Attaché Brigadier General Abdulaziz Al-Sulaiti, received his diploma following the 2026 Graduation Ceremony.

The delegation visiting the university’s South Campus included Consul General Dr. Naif Al-Abduljabbar, Military Attaché Brigadier General Abdulaziz Al-Sulaiti, Second Secretary Abdulla Al-Khayareen, Deputy Military Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Nayef Al-Meer, and members of the Qatar Armed Forces, Aisha Al-Dosari and Najya Al-Kuwari. Representing Istanbul Medipol University were Rector Prof. Bahadır Kürşat Güntürk, Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Abdurrahman Çetin, Dean of the International School of Medicine Prof. Abdulkadir Ömer, and faculty member Prof. Abdulbari Bener.
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION DISCUSSED
During the meeting, the participants reviewed the academic achievements of Qatari students who graduated from the International School of Medicine. Consul General Dr. Naif Al-Abduljabbar stated that the graduates are a source of pride for both their families and the State of Qatar, emphasizing that their dedication throughout their education deserves recognition.
Highlighting the academic success of Khalid Al-Ajji, who plans to pursue residency training in Canada, Dr. Al-Abduljabbar expressed his satisfaction that these young doctors are being prepared to serve their country with distinction.
Dean of the International School of Medicine Prof. Abdulkadir Ömer shared the university’s vision for internationalization, noting that Istanbul Medipol University aims to attract more students from the Gulf region. He also stated that the university continues to strengthen its position in international rankings and aspires to be among the world's top 500 universities in education.

INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION MODEL HIGHLIGHTED
Prof. Ömer explained that the university is expanding its research capacity, strengthening international academic partnerships, and enhancing its scientific publication performance. He noted that the International School of Medicine offers medical education in both Turkish and English while providing students with opportunities to participate in research projects, double major programs, and artificial intelligence initiatives.
He also emphasized that students can take part in research and internship programs in the United States, Europe, and Canada, adding that foreign language development is an integral component of the university’s educational model.
Pointing to the international achievements of the university’s graduates, Prof. Ömer cited one alumnus who completed an MD–PhD program, founded a biotechnology company in the United States, and published research in Nature Biotechnology.

At the conclusion of the visit, Istanbul Medipol University Rector Prof. Bahadır Kürşat Güntürk presented a commemorative gift to Consul General Dr. Naif Al-Abduljabbar in appreciation of the visit.
