Assoc. Prof. Gündoğar: Awareness of oral and dental health protection is very low in Türkiye
In his statement to Anadolu Agency, Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Gündoğar from the School of Dentistry said that Türkiye has a poor record in protecting oral and dental health.

Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Gündoğar from Istanbul Medipol University School of Dentistry made statements to Anadolu Agency. Assoc. Prof. Gündoğar said the awareness of protecting oral and dental health is very low in Türkiye and that the general feeling is that it is necessary to go to the dentist when pain begins, which is wrong. He stated that even if there is no problem with the teeth, they should be checked periodically, and said: “While the average number of dental visits per year in Türkiye is 1.5, it is 2.5 in developed countries. This situation shows that oral health awareness needs to be increased in Türkiye. Early diagnosis and regular check-ups are very important for oral and dental health. Therefore, a dentist should be visited at least once every 6 months, and regular check-ups should be performed. Thanks to these check-ups, problems such as tooth decay and gum disease can be detected and treated at an early stage. Early diagnosis makes treatment easier and less costly. In addition, regular check-ups help maintain oral hygiene, prevent tooth loss, and improve overall health.”
