World Social Work Day celebrated
Istanbul Medipol University Social Service Club held a celebration as part of World Social Work Day. The event discussed the role of social services in society, the importance of solidarity between generations, and the steps that need to be taken in this area in the future.

Istanbul Medipol University Social Service Club organized an event as part of World Social Work Day. Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Health Sciences Social Service Department Head Prof. Taner Artan, Social Service Specialist and Family Counselor Kahraman Eroğlu, Kızılay Zeynep M. Nedim Care Center Social Service Specialist Ceren Akar, and many students attended the event held at the South Campus Conference Hall. The theme of the event was “Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity for Lasting Prosperity.” The program emphasized that social services are a field that appeals not only to disadvantaged individuals but to all segments of society and also touched on the impact of today’s technological developments on social services.
EROĞLU: THERE ARE SOCIAL SERVICES IN EVERY AREA OF LIFE
Speaking at the event, Social Service Specialist and Family Counselor Kahraman Eroğlu emphasized that social services are a sacred profession that touches every segment of society and stated that social services provide services not only to the poor but also to the advantaged segments. Eroğlu said: “When we evaluate social services not according to our country’s conditions but according to world conditions, we are ahead of many countries. However, we do not receive enough interest and support from central and local governments while carrying out our work. We sometimes face obstacles and exclusion in providing services. However, social services are a field where interprofessional solidarity is shown at the highest level.” Eroğlu emphasized that social services is a profession that supports intergenerational solidarity and cooperation and stated that people working in this field should be well-equipped and competent individuals.
