In his opening speech at the event, Prof. Recep Öztürk, Vice-President of Istanbul Medipol University, emphasized the importance of circular economy and said: “The mission of our university is to train individuals with universal values who will lead science and society through education, research, and development activities. Raising awareness and providing solutions to the most important issues of our time, such as sustainable development and circular economy, are important tasks for us. Circular economy is a system that aims to keep resources in the economy for as long as possible and minimize waste generation, as opposed to the ‘use and throw’ approach. This model provides energy savings by preserving the value of products and materials, while paving the way for the development of innovative business models and technologies. As a result, the circular economy is essential for a sustainable future.”
