Istanbul Medipol University Genetic Diagnostic Center, established in 2016, contributes to the country’s economy within the scope of health tourism while successfully performing genetic tests.
Lately, genetic tests have become mandatory for the risk factor, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and prognosis of many diseases. In this regard, Istanbul Medipol University Genetic Diagnostic Center provides service successfully to more than 100 institutions for genetic tests that cannot be done widely in our country. The center, which carries out studies in the fields of ‘Bioinformatics, Genetic Counseling, Molecular Genetics, Molecular Cytogenetics, Cytogenetics’, contributes to the completion of many scientific research projects in addition to routine studies. In addition, the center, which gives hope to the patients in the nearby geography, contributes to the country’s economy within the scope of health tourism.
THERE ARE STUDIES TO UNDERSTAND THE GENETICS OF CANCER
Istanbul Medipol University Genetic Diagnostic Center started operating in 2016 using existing laboratory infrastructure and new technologic devices to reduce foreign dependency and make up for the deficiencies of Turkey’s genetic studies. Liquid-biopsy, non-invasive prenatal advanced screening tests (NIPT) to understand cancer genetics at the Center for the Evaluation of Genetic Diseases; uses new generation sequencing methods and many molecular methods to diagnose cardiological, neurological and multifactorial genetic diseases. Clinical exome, whole-exome and whole-genome sequencing studies are performed for rare genetic diseases that cannot be diagnosed.
To understand cancer genetics in the Genetic Diagnostic Center, liquid-biopsy, non-interventional prenatal advanced screening tests (NIPT) use new generation sequencing methods in addition to many molecular methods to diagnose cardiological, neurological and multifactorial genetic diseases.
THERE IS HOPE FOR PATIENTS
Undiagnosed genetic diseases are evaluated in hospitals within Istanbul Medipol University, Pediatric Arrhythmia and Genetics Center, Pediatric Neurology and Epilepsy Center, IVF Center, Oncology and Hematology Center, Tissue and Organ Transplantation Center, and many contracted public and private hospitals. The center, where genetic tests are successfully performed in newborn genetic screening, genetic carrier screening, single-gene diseases, metabolic diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, and pharmacogenetics, also provides hope for patients with genetic counselling services.
