From an emotion to a game: Medipol students created an exhibition that resonates with children

Educational games designed by students of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department at the School of Education of Istanbul Medipol University were showcased in the exhibition “From Emotion to Play: Educational Games in Guidance and Psychological Counseling.” The exhibition featured educational games aimed at supporting children’s social and emotional development while drawing attention to the value of game-based learning.

The exhibition “From Emotion to Play: Educational Games in Guidance and Psychological Counseling” prepared by students of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department at the School of Education of Istanbul Medipol University, was held at the South Campus. Organized under the academic supervision of Assist. Prof. Damla Sönmez, the exhibition presented eight educational games developed by students to visitors.

Designed to contribute to children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development, the games focused on a variety of learning outcomes, including empathy development, self-confidence building, enhancement of attention skills, career awareness, and emotional recognition. Developed for primary and middle school students, the games aimed to make learning processes more interactive and enjoyable. The materials displayed in the exhibition will be donated for use by middle school students.
 


GAMES DEVELOPED BY STUDENTS
The educational games introduced at the exhibition consisted of original projects created by students of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department, each designed to address different areas of child development.

Among the games exhibited, "Kozmik Kariyer" was designed as a space-themed game aimed at helping children develop career awareness based on their interests and personal characteristics. "Star Avcıları" was developed to enhance attention and hand-eye coordination skills in preschool-aged children.

The game “Bilgi Avı: Görev Peşinde” sought to make learning processes more engaging and memorable, while "Zil Oyunu"  focused on helping children recognize and express their emotions and develop appropriate responses to social situations. 

The exhibition also featured “Duygu Uzmanı” a game designed to help children understand that different individuals may experience different emotions in response to the same event; “Empatipoly”, which supports empathy and problem-solving skills; “Kendine Güvenen Kahraman”, which contributes to the development of self-confidence and self-awareness; and “Duy, Bil, Duy” which was designed to support cognitive development.
 


The educational games showcased in the exhibition and their developers were as follows:

“Duy Bil Duy” – Emirhan Polat
