Dr. Duygu İlhan is on the FDI Council for the second time
The School of Dentistry Faculty Member Dr. Duygu İlhan has been elected as a member of the FDI World Dental Federation Council for the second time.

Dr. Duygu İlhan from Istanbul Medipol University School of Dentistry, Department of Periodontology has been elected for the second time to the FDI Council, representing approximately one million dentists worldwide. Dr. İlhan, the only representative from Türkiye in the Council, became one of the 13 members of the Council by receiving the majority of the votes at the FDI General Assembly, and she will serve until 2027. With its 120-year history, FDI is an important international federation in the field of dentistry and has 191 member associations from 134 countries.
DR. İLHAN WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR EUROPE
Dr. İlhan, who will continue to serve as the Council Member Responsible for the Europe Region, stated that it was a great pleasure for her to be elected to the Council for the second time. Stating that they are working to raise awareness about the vital role of oral health, Dr. İlhan said: “The World Dental Congress 2024, jointly organized by FDI and the Turkish Dental Association, was held at the Istanbul Congress Center (ICC) and Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center (ICEC) between September 12-15. This prestigious organization highlighted the global importance of our profession by enabling the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and experiences in the field of dentistry. We left behind a successful congress hosted by Türkiye. In the coming years, as it has for 120 years, FDI will continue its world-renowned work to prevent, treat, and cure oral diseases.”
