Istanbul Medipol University Sustainable Development Application and Research Center was established

ISTANBUL MEDİPOL UNIVERSITY SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION AND RESEARCH CENTER WAS ESTABLISHED

Istanbul Medipol University aims to contribute to the realization of the 'Sustainable Development Goals' consisting of 17 goals and 169 targets prepared under the leadership of the United Nations in order to eliminate poverty in all its dimensions and ensure the common welfare of humanity by 2030.

For this purpose, Istanbul Medipol University Sustainable Development Application and Research Center was established. The center will play a critical role in addressing global goals, will serve sustainable development goals through research projects, training, actions and policies.

WILL WORK FOR A LIVABLE WORLD

Among the aims of Istanbul Medipol University Sustainable Development Application and Research Center, which aims to serve the purpose of a more livable world for future generations; Developing sustainable development as a field, promoting sustainable production and consumption issues, ensuring cooperation between industry and university, supporting green economic transformation efforts in Türkiye, contributing to sustainable development issues in local and international literature, producing information in areas such as ecological sustainability, providing education and training on issues related to sustainable development, conducting research at both national and international level, raising awareness on environmental, economic and  social  sustainability,  ensuring  cooperation with national and international institutions and researchers, and carrying out social responsibility projects within the framework of the Sustainable Development Application and Research Center's opportunities, vision, strategies and purpose.

"UNIVERSITIES HAVE A GREAT RESPONSIBILITY"

Prof. Dr. Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil, Director of the Sustainable Development Application and Research Center, said that the importance of sustainable development is increasing day by day, and universities, which are among the most important building blocks of society, have great responsibilities.

Yavuz Tiftikçigil pointed out that today's economic, climatic, and social crises have revealed the importance of 'Sustainable Development Goals' more and more: "Sustainable Development Goals are a global call to action to end poverty, protect the environment, take measures against the climate crisis, ensure fair sharing of prosperity and peace. Higher education institutions, which undertake critical tasks in the development and welfare of countries, also have an important role as one of the stakeholders that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals. In this context, Sustainable Development Application and Research Center will carry out education, research and development activities and will continue its activities to increase social benefit through national and international cooperation."
