Applications for Additional Examination Rights for School of Communication Students Who Have Reached the Maximum Period of Study

Pursuant to Article 44(c) of Higher Education Law No. 2547, final-year students who have not completed four-year undergraduate programs and graduated within the maximum period of study (7 years) are granted the right to take two additional examinations in all courses required for graduation from their enrolled program at the end of the maximum period of study.

The right to take examinations at the end of the maximum period of study cannot be transferred or postponed under any circumstances, and no make-up examination rights can be granted. Students who do not attend these examinations will be deemed to have used their examination rights at the end of the maximum period of study, regardless of whether they have submitted an application.

Application and Examination Dates:

Applications must be submitted in person to the Faculty Secretariat between 14–23 October 2026, by the end of business hours.

Announcement date: 28 October 2026

Additional examinations will be held face-to-face between 5–6 November 2026, and the examination schedule will be announced separately.

Accordingly;

Students who have completed the maximum period of study (7 years) and have courses remaining to fulfill graduation requirements may apply.

For students who have suspended their registration, the periods during which they were on leave are deducted when calculating the maximum period of study.

The period spent in the preparatory class is deducted when calculating the maximum period of study.

Regarding Examination Rights at the End of the Maximum Period of Study:

If the number of courses required for graduation is 6 or more, the student is granted the right to take two (2) additional examinations.

If the number of required courses decreases to 5 following the examinations, the student is granted an additional period of three semesters. If the number of required courses remains at 6 or more, the student's enrollment will be terminated.

If the number of courses required for graduation is between 2 and 5, students are granted an additional period of four semesters. If the number of required courses does not decrease to 1 by the end of this period, the student's enrollment will be terminated.

If the number of courses required for graduation is 1, the student is granted an unlimited right to take examinations. This right is forfeited if the student fails to attend the examination three times, whether consecutively or intermittently, and the student's
enrollment will be terminated.

General Information

Students who have an unlimited right to take examinations cannot benefit from student rights. Students using their unlimited examination rights are required to attend practical courses. Attendance is not required for courses other than practical courses.

Students granted an additional period must renew their registration by fulfilling their tuition fee/contribution fee obligations.

Students who do not meet the requirement of 240 ECTS credits necessary for graduation following the examinations will have their enrollment at the university terminated.

If elective courses in which students have failed are discontinued, they may choose different courses by replacing them with the same number of elective courses from the same elective course group.

Students who pass all courses following the additional examinations must submit their applications regarding graduation procedures to the academic unit in which they are enrolled.

Students are directly responsible for following up on all procedures.

To pass an additional examination, students must obtain at least 60 points out of 100. The grade obtained in the examination replaces the regular course grade.
