Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture – Additional Examination Right Applications for Students Who Have Reached the Maximum Period of Study

In accordance with Article 44 of Higher Education Law No. 2547, final-year students who have reached the maximum period of study are granted the right to take additional examinations.
Students who wish to exercise their additional examination rights must apply in person to the Faculty Secretariat between September 7–17, 2026 by completing the form attached to this announcement.

The end-of-maximum-period examination right cannot be transferred or postponed under any circumstances, and no make-up examination will be offered. Students who do not attend these examinations will be deemed to have used their end-of-maximum-period examination rights, regardless of whether they have submitted an application, since their maximum period of study has expired. Following the examinations, their status will be evaluated and processed in accordance with the rules specified below.

Pursuant to Article 44 of Law No. 2547, excluding the one-year foreign language preparatory class, students are required to complete their programs within the maximum periods specified below, starting from the semester in which the courses of the program in which they are enrolled are offered, regardless of whether they register for each semester:

• Associate degree programs with a normal duration of two years: maximum four years,
• Undergraduate programs with a normal duration of four years: maximum seven years,
• Undergraduate programs with a normal duration of five years: maximum eight years,
• Undergraduate programs with a normal duration of six years: maximum nine years.

Accordingly;
• For students who have suspended their enrollment, the periods during which they were on approved leave are deducted when calculating the maximum period of study,
• The period spent in the preparatory class is deducted when calculating the maximum period of study,
• For all students, the Fall Semester of the 2019–2020 academic year is taken as the reference point, and the maximum period of the program (7 years) is calculated from this date in determining eligibility for the Additional Examination Right.

STATUS BEFORE TAKING THE ADDITIONAL EXAMINATIONS
1. Students who have 6 or more courses in total:
• Failed courses with an (F1) grade,
• Courses for which they received an absenteeism (F2) grade,
• Courses they have never previously taken, are granted two (2) additional examination opportunities.

2. Students who have 2–5 courses in total before taking the additional examinations:
• Failed courses with an (F1) grade,
• Courses for which they received an absenteeism (F2) grade,
• Courses they have never previously taken, are granted an additional four-semester period.
• Students who exercise their additional examination rights are required to attend practical courses. Attendance is not required for courses other than practical courses.
• Students who reduce their total number of courses to 1 course within the additional periods granted will be entitled to unlimited examination rights and will be subject to the rules governing unlimited examination rights. Students who fail to reduce their total number of courses to 1 by the end of the additional periods will have their enrollment at the University terminated.
• Students with unlimited examination rights who fail to attend the examinations offered at the end of a semester for three consecutive or non-consecutive academic years will be deemed to have waived their unlimited examination rights, and their enrollment will be terminated.

3. Students who have 1 course in total before taking the additional examinations:
• Failed courses with an (F1) grade,
• Courses for which they received an absenteeism (F2) grade,
• A course they have never previously taken, are granted unlimited examination rights.
• They must participate in the examinations offered at the end of each semester,
• Students exercising unlimited examination rights for practical courses are required to attend those courses. Attendance is not required for courses other than practical courses.
• Students who fail to attend the examinations offered at the end of a semester for three consecutive or non-consecutive academic years will be deemed to have waived their unlimited examination rights, and their enrollment at the University will be terminated.
 
STATUS AFTER EXERCISING THE ADDITIONAL EXAMINATION RIGHT
1. Students who have 6 or more courses in total after exercising the additional examination right:
• Their enrollment at the University will be terminated.

2. Students who have 2–5 courses in total after exercising the additional examination right (students who have failed, absenteeism-related, and/or previously untaken courses):
• An additional three-semester period will be granted (or two academic years in academic units where education is conducted according to a year-based or class-based progression system), and they have the right to take the examinations offered at the end of each semester.
• Students who reduce their total number of courses to 1 course within the additional period granted will be entitled to unlimited examination rights and will be subject to the rules governing unlimited examination rights. Students who fail to reduce their total number of courses to 1 by the end of the additional period will have their enrollment at the University terminated.
• Practical courses taken under the unlimited examination right require attendance. Attendance is not required for courses other than practical courses.
• Students with unlimited examination rights who fail to attend the examinations offered at the end of a semester for three consecutive or non-consecutive academic years will be deemed to have waived their unlimited examination rights, and their enrollment will be terminated.

GENERAL PROVISIONS
1. Students who are entitled to additional examinations cannot benefit from student rights. Students exercising additional examination rights are required to attend practical courses. Attendance is not required for courses other than practical courses.
2. Students who are granted an additional period must renew their registration by fulfilling their tuition/semester contribution payment obligations.
3. Students who do not fulfill the requirement of 240 ECTS credits necessary for graduation at the end of the examinations will have their enrollment at the University terminated.
4. If an elective course in which a student has failed is discontinued, the student may choose a different course from the same elective course group in its place.
5. Students who have not previously completed their mandatory internship must complete their internship within the period granted to them.
6. Students who successfully complete all courses following the additional examinations must apply to their registered academic unit for graduation procedures.
7. Students are directly responsible for following and monitoring all processes related to their status.

EXAMINATION DATES:
End-of-Maximum-Period Additional Examinations: Between 28 December 2026 – 06 January 2027
*Since students who benefit from the additional examination right will take their practical courses during the semester, they are required to attend midterm examinations, interim submissions, or juries.
Examination schedules will be announced separately.

ABOUT THE ADDITIONAL EXAMINATIONS
*Students requesting additional examination rights for practical courses specified in our Faculty's Undergraduate Education and Training Directive are required to attend these classes.

*In order to pass an additional examination, students must obtain a score of at least 60 out of 100. The grade obtained in the examination will replace the achievement grade for that course.

This announcement constitutes official notification (TEBLİĞ); no separate written notification will be provided to individual students.
