Application for Additional Examination Rights for Students Who Have Exceeded the Maximum Study Period in the School of Communication

Pursuant to Article 44/c of Law No. 2547 on Higher Education, students in their final year who have not completed their four-year undergraduate programs within the maximum study period (7 years) and have therefore not graduated are granted two additional examination rights in all remaining courses required for graduation at the end of the maximum study period.

The end-of-maximum-period examination rights are non-transferable and cannot be postponed, and no make-up exams will be granted. Students who do not take these exams will be considered to have used their end-of-maximum-period examination rights, regardless of whether they have applied.

Application and Examination Dates:

Applications must be submitted in person to the School Secretariat between 29 June 2026 – 3 July 2026 by the end of working hours.

Additional examinations will be held face-to-face between 16 July 2026 – 17 July 2026, and the detailed exam schedule will be announced separately.

Accordingly:
Students who have reached the maximum study period (7 years) and still have courses remaining required for graduation are eligible to apply.
Periods during which students have taken a leave of absence are deducted from the maximum study period.
The duration spent in the preparatory class is also deducted from the maximum study period.

Regarding End-of-Maximum-Period Examination Rights:
If a student has 6 or more courses remaining to graduate, they are granted two (2) additional examination rights. If, after these exams, the number of remaining courses decreases to 5, the student is granted three additional semesters. If the number of remaining courses remains 6 or more, the student is dismissed from the university.

If a student has between 2–5 remaining courses, they are granted four additional semesters. If by the end of this period the number of remaining courses does not decrease to 1, the student is dismissed from the university.
If a student has only 1 remaining course, they are granted unlimited examination rights. However, this right is revoked, and the student is dismissed if they fail to attend exams three times consecutively or intermittently.

General Information:
Students with unlimited examination rights are not entitled to student privileges. Attendance is mandatory for applied/practical courses for these students, while attendance is not required for other courses.

Students granted additional time must renew their registration by fulfilling tuition/fee obligations.

Students who do not meet the 240 ECTS requirement for graduation after the examinations will be dismissed from the university.

If previously failed elective courses are removed from the curriculum, students may replace them with the same number of electives from the same elective group.

Students who successfully pass all courses after the additional examinations must apply for graduation procedures through their enrolled department.
Students are fully responsible for monitoring all processes.

To pass the additional examination, students must score at least 60 out of 100. The grade obtained in the exam will replace the course’s previous passing grade.
