Neuroscience research gained international momentum when an initiative was declared, designating the 1990s as the Decade of the Brain: "to enhance public awareness of the benefits to be derived from brain research". With the contribution of biotechnological development of 21st century, the research perspective covers a wide range from behavioral and cognitive to cellular and molecular explorations. Brain research became a center of attraction and academies established new programs for graduate education.
Medipol University now offers a Masters and a Doctoral Degree in Neuroscience. With strong academic staff and pioneering technical equipment above international standards, the program offers opportunity to students from a broad background, who pursue a graduate degree in neuroscience. Cell culture laboratory, Molecular biology laboratory, Genetics Laboratory, Proteomics Facility, Cellular Electrophysiology laboratory, Animal Behavior and Brain Research Laboratory located at Kavacık Campus and Clinical electrophysiology Laboratory located in Medipol Mega Hospitals Complex offers hands on research opportunity to students during their PhD along with an intense theoretical course curriculum.
Admission Dates: 01 - 14.06.2015
for Details.

To provide the students with advanced theoretical knowledge regarding the mechanisms of functioning of nervous system from molecular level to behavior and its pathological processes and with scientific research abilities thus to make them attain the capacity to design, conduct and conclude novel and independent research in the field.

Doctorate QF-EHEA: 3.Level EQF-LLL: 8. Level

Students who have completed all of the courses, practices, and clinical training and who have taken the 180 ECTS excluding preparatory class have a right to receive a diploma. Graduation eligibility is determined by academic average score. For this purpose, the sum of the weighted scores of all courses taken throughout the education of dentistry is divided by the sum of ECTS values.

KNOWLEDGE Theoretical/Factual Has the advanced knowledge about the structure, functioning and pathological processes of the nervous system. Knows the essential scientific questions and current research topics in neuroscience and produces hypotheses about them. Covers the whole literature on own research area and follows up new developments. SKILLS Cognitive/Practical Defines the methods used in neuroscience researches. In own research area uses the required techniques without assistance, develops new methods and techniques. Designs research projects and submits them as proposals. Presents the research findings in oral or written forms and in scientific articles. COMPETENCY Ability to work independently and take responsibility Designs and conducts scientific research, independently and within a team. Manages a research lab and establishes new ones. Learning Competence Evaluates all new information regarding the field and associate them based on available knowledge. Communication and Social Competence Uses the communication and computer technology effectively in theoretical and practical studies. Able to present theoretical or research data orally or written in Turkish as well in English languages. Adheres to ethical values and behaves according to dynamics of social responsibility. Field-based Competence While focusing on the basic research behaves in accordance with the principle that neuroscience research should eventually aim clinical implications and benefit.

As the final stage of formal training, The Doctoral Degree is regarded for the successfull students who have succeeded their Postgraduate Programs and are studying in a Faculty/School giving education within minimum 10 term. It provides students to search freely and comment on scientific norms with different point of wievs.

A variety of assessment methods such as mid-term(s), assignment(s), exercise(s), project(s), practice(s), and a final exam are implemented in the programme. In order to graduate from the programme, cumulative GPA must be minimum 2.00. A course grade is constituted by evaluating the below stated elements and given by using letters.
