AimTo evaluate the basic chemical and physical properties, clinical and laboratory use of dental materials and to classify and compare dental materials. To provide students with an understanding of the hand tools used in the examination and restoration processes, which acts a fundamental role in the practice of dentistry. Students will develop the examination skills necessary for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning, and they will gain the ability to use hand tools effectively by getting to know them in various restorative procedures. At the same time, they will have knowledge about important issues such as sterilization and infection control and will gain the ability to use these instruments safely and ethically within the principles of professional ethics. To teach the students of the faculty of dentistry the basic principles of rotary instruments used in restorative preparation processes and to enable them to develop their applied skills. Students will gain knowledge about the types, selection and correct techniques of rotary instruments used effectively in various restoration procedures. At the same time, it is aimed for them to understand and apply critical issues such as protecting tooth tissue during preparation, creating accurate cavity form and improving functionality. This course aims to contribute to students' participation in clinical practice more readily by increasing their basic competencies in the field of restorative dentistry. The aim of the faculty of dentistry is to explain the biomaterials used in the protection of the pulp chamber and to provide students with in-depth knowledge about the selection, application and evaluation of these materials. Students will learn about the properties, indications, and contraindications of various biomaterials, learn techniques used in pulp chamber protection, and develop practical skills. At the same time, it is aimed for them to understand how to use biomaterials to protect pulp tissue, increase restoration durability and optimize treatment success. This course aims to enable students to contribute to pulp protection strategies in dental practice by strengthening their clinical practice skills. By teaching dentistry faculty students the use of amalgam material and its advantages and disadvantages, it is to ensure that students gain in-depth knowledge about the application of amalgam fillings and evaluation of their indications and contraindications. Students will learn about the chemical structure of amalgam, clinical application steps, restorative advantages and indications. At the same time, it is aimed for them to understand the situations in which amalgam fillings are an effective restoration option in unaesthetic situations and to make a critical evaluation on how this material compares with other restorative options. This lecture is designed to provide students with a comprehensive perspective on the safe and effective use of amalgam and strengthen their skills in the practice of dentistry. To teach the physical, chemical and biological properties of materials used in dentistry and their clinical and laboratory applications, and to provide students with the ability to choose materials appropriate to the case. The aim of this course is; The importance of fluoride prophylaxis in increasing the resistance of dental tissues to protect against caries, the effect of fluoride on dental tissues, systemic and topical fluoride application methods and mechanisms of action and to provide information about the indications, contraindications, properties and application methods of fissure sealing and protective resin restorations, which are one of the prophylaxis approaches to interrupt the relationship between dental tissue and bacterial plaque.
Course ContentThis course contains; Agents used in individual prophylaxis,Systemic and local fluoride application agents, Fissure sealants,Hand instruments used in examination and restorations,Rotary instruments and burs used in preparation,Bases for pulp protection,Amalgam in dentistry,Endodontic equipments,Irrigation and disinfection in root canal treatment,Root canal pastes,Gypsum and gypsum products,Dental waxes, Dental ceramics-Chemical configuration and properties,Model and die materials,Investment and dental casting in dentistry,Structure and properties of metal and alloys,Dental alloys-Chemical configuration and properties, Temporary crown and bridge materials, Luting agents,Soldering, welding and electroplating in dentistry,Finishing and polishing in prosthetic dentistry,Biocompatibility of prosthetic materials, X-ray apparatus used in dentistry, Coolidge tube,Film structure, film types, screens, dental films, X-ray film processing solutions.
