The aim of this course is to enable students to understand what addiction means, to recognize the types of addiction, to understand the differences between chemical and behavioral addictions, the effects of substances (emotional, physical, psychological and behavioral). To be able to explain the treatment methods and approach to a person with addiction and intervention methods for informative and awareness-raising intervention methods for recovery processes. It is also explained how to approach a person with addiction during a natural disaster, what to pay attention to while working in the field, as well as the preparation and presentation of course content for informative and awareness raising.
This course; starting with the definition of addiction, scope and types of addiction; family factor in addiction, addiction in children and adolescents, addiction in disasters and behavioral addictions (gambling, technology, etc.) as well as chemical addictions (smoking, alcohol, substance, etc.) by addressing the types of addiction, approaches to treatment methods and addiction and addiction as a content for the approach to the person with addiction and addiction will be followed in a general spectrum to understand addiction.
